Spring is officially here! Even though we don't get many changes in weather from season to season, we still like to celebrate what each season means. We often think of fall and winter as our “cozy home” times, but a home should feel cozy year round! Your textiles–rugs, window treatments, toss pillows, and throw blankets—play an important role in determining how a space feels. Don’t be afraid to change some of your textiles and bring in colors and textures that compliment the season. If you don’t know where to begin, think about the fabrics and patterns you choose to wear in your wardrobe and use those texture options as inspiration for your home. Linen, cotton, and chambray in florals, stripes, and geometrics are all great choices for spring!
We've created a list of 5 ways to update your home decor for spring. Let us know your favorite idea in the comments below!
1. Update your tablescape with faux or real flowers.
While this one is something you might do anyways, we encourage you to step outside the box when it comes to the vase or plantar you use. We love the idea of using vintage boxes made of wood to house real of faux flowers. If you have little ones or don't want to splurge on fresh flowers every week, we recommend taking a trip to the craft store to stock up on some seasonal stems and bushes. As for fresh flowers, buy whatever your heart desires! Sometimes it can be boring buying the same old flowers from the grocery store, so we recommend taking a trip to a local florist or home goods store. Here in Boca Raton, we've heard good things about Field of Flowers and Peterson's Flower Shop.
2. Create new vignettes for your coffee or side tables.
If you're decorating on a budget, creating small seasonal vignettes is a perfect way to add a bit of spring cheer without spending a ton. Look for small to medium sized pieces that catch your eye. A trick to making your vignette look great is to create sets of odd numbered items with different textures and sizes. For example, a glass vase with flowers, a stack of coasters, and candle would be a great start. Choose items you love and go from there!
3. Use books in your favorite spring colors to decorate your mantel of shelves.
Have you ever heard of a #shelfie? It's basically a selfie for your shelf. Books are a common theme with these shelfies so it inspired us to use them in our spring decor!
Use color coordinated book covers to decorate your fireplace mantel or shelves. For a more eclectic and vintage feel, opt for old books with a worn look. Browse second hand stores or estate sales for interesting finds. For a modern feel, opt for newer books that you would find in your local bookstore.
If you're more into neutral shades, have the pages face out with the spine of the book tucked away. This way it adds texture and not too much color!
4. Swap out that old rug for something clean and fresh!
If you want a simple and fast way to update your space for spring, opt for a new rug! The rugs you have around your house are probably a lot more worn out and faded than you think. Rugs with a fresh pop of color are one of our favorite ways to transform a space. Nowadays there are so many options to choose from so it's super easy to find a rug that will match your existing decor--no need to re-do your entire space! Some of our favorite rugs are from Magnolia and Rifle Paper Co. Since we are a retailer for both brands, we know that the rugs are beautifully made and high quality. Here are some of our spring must-haves from Rifle Paper Co:

5. Clean & add mirrors
Let there be light! It's easy to enhance natural lighting with mirrors in your home. Light reflects off the mirrors and onto your walls. This is a great solution if you want to brighten up a dark corner of your home. If you already have plenty of mirrors, don't forget to clean them! Dust and dirt will settle on them so clean them often to keep them looking their best. Here are some mirrors you can find at our store:
In the midst of spring cleaning, spring decorating, spring gardening, and spring scheduling, be sure to get outside and enjoy the beauty of this season! Take time to smell the flowers and while you’re at it pick a few to bring home.
