Color is a wonderful thing-- it can bring about certain feelings, emotions, and memories. You might not realize it, but the colors inside your home can affect the way your moods and feelings. Your wall paint color is a big factor in this. Does your home feel inviting and warm? Or cool and calm? Or bold and energized?
We realized that there are some paint colors that are a staple in a modern farmhouse home design. We've made a list of some colors we absolutely adore but we also have some unexpected colors that you might not expect!
Gray comes in so many shades. We opt for a gray with slightly more blue or white tones rather than a gray with more blacks or greens in it. It is a color that goes great with almost every other color imaginable. If you want to have more fun with the color in your decor of furniture, gray is a great canvas for letting other colors shine.
Sage green is an earthy grayish-green color like that of the culinary herb which has woody stems and grayish leaves. If you haven't noticed, we have a bit of a crush on this color right now! It's becoming a more trendy color and has really seen an increase of popularity this year.
"The word sage is defined as a profoundly wise person—someone who is venerated for his wisdom, judgment, and experience. Sage green is, thus, a color that can express wisdom. As a green, it also communicates peace and growth and speaks of ecology and nature."
Black painted walls can seem risky and bold but when it's done right it is modern, dramatic, and beautiful. Consider using black as an accent wall. Often, galvanized or dark metals go wonderfully with black when there is enough white or gray to blanace it out. This bathroom seems very luxurious and we're not sure if we would get that same feeling if the walls were painted white. Let us know in the comments if you would ever paint your walls black!
Of course, shiplap is an amazing way to create a white room that isn't flat and dreary. Texture and movement is created by the angles of the shiplap that run all the way up the ceiling.
If you love white, embrace it! White is often associated with pureness, wholesomeness, and newness. If you need a to hit refresh in your home, white is a great color to do that with. Plus, you can always add color in the decor elements. White is a timeless color and honestly you can hardly ever go wrong with it!
A darker wall is a fun way to add color to a room. Usually, a darker color on all of the walls of a room create a moody feeling, but here, a dark blue wall is a masculine touch that creates depth without being overbearing.
Go bold or go home...right? In this case, we think these fiji blue cabinets are a home run! Although this isn't a wall, the cabinets seem like they are since they are so large. They're a fun alternative to the white cabinets that you often see in a modern farmhouse style home. The kitchen island truly is breathtaking and we wouldn't have picked a better design for this kitchen.
Taupe can be a difficult color to get right your first time. Often is can have a lot of brown undertones. We prefer a light taupe with white tones in it, but this bathroom is still beautiful with the darker taupe. It's often a safe color to paint your home if you plan on selling or moving anytime soon.
